Automotive Service Technician

Position Overview

Be part of a growing dealership and one of the most important teams – the service department! PLS Auto is seeking a full-service Automotive Repair Technician to diagnose and repair operational issues on various makes and models of vehicles which are generally 3 to 10 years old.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator complaints (described by a manager); conducting inspections; diagnosing functionality issues; repairing diagnosed mechanical failures in a timely manner; repairing multiple system issues including electrical, cooling, braking, HVAC, steering and other system malfunctions; replacing parts and components
  • Understand and use standard diagnostic tools such as code readers and shop software programs to maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs
  • Make any and all repairs necessary to vehicles including the removal and replacement of major components
  • Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs
  • Contain costs by evaluating service and parts options
  • Keep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receipt
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • 3 years of hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing used vehicles in a commercial service facility including working in a dispatcher type system and ordering parts when necessary
  • National Institute of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications preferred
  • A track record of dependable diagnostic capability – references required
  • Must provide own tools
  • Work in a minimally climate-controlled facility daily
  • Capable of customer interaction when necessary
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record

Physical Requirements

This is a heavy line technician position with the standard physical demands of that position
