About the role

The Automotive Repair Technology Instructor is a full-time or part-time role based in Mount Ayr, IA.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and assess instruction in automotive repair technology, including classroom teaching and hands-on lab demonstrations.
  • Develop and update course materials, align curriculum with industry standards.
  • Mentor students, supervise lab work, evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, participate in program improvement initiatives, engage with industry partners as appropriate, contribute to college committees and student success activities.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or AAS degree in auto repair or a minimum of 6,000 hours of recent, relevant auto repair experience.
  • Previous teaching experience is desired but not required.
  • Relevant industry certifications - ASE Master Certification is required and can be obtained during the on-boarding process.
  • Possess strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication, mentoring, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, colleagues, and industry partners.
  • Commitment to safety practices in automotive labs, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.

Benefits

This teaching contract would meet daily at the Mount Ayr CTE Center beginning August 2026, in alignment with Mount Ayr's district calendar.
