Job Details
- Inspects intermodal units arriving and departing the railroad intermodal facility on the train for unit number and damage to the unit.
- Inspects intermodal chassis.
- Inspects unit numbers in the intermodal yard.
- Requires outdoor inspections in all weather conditions, including walking on the intermodal ramp to check numbers.
- Requires regular chassis checks typically taking approximately 2 hours in all weather conditions outside the vehicle.
- Requires wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as a safety vest and protective hard hat when outdoors.
- Measured by the accuracy of the trailer/container unit verification and the performance of these duties in a safe accident and injury-free manner.
- Maintains a safe distance from moving vehicles at all times.
- Taking photographs of the damage and completing necessary paperwork.
- Aware of units moving in and around the intermodal yard.
- Aware of the office surroundings avoiding slips, trips, and falls.
Qualifications
- Possess a valid Driver's License.
- Must be able to pass a 7-year background check and a drug test.
- No GED or High School Diploma is required.
