Automotive Program Representative
About the role
The Department of Consumer Affairs seeks an Enforcement Investigator to join the Automotive Program. This position investigates consumer complaints, conducts inspections, and ensures compliance with the Automotive Repair Act.
Responsibilities
- Investigate consumer complaints related to automotive repair services
- Conduct inspections and audits of automotive repair facilities
- Ensure compliance with the Automotive Repair Act and related laws and regulations
- Collect, analyze, and preserve evidence
- Prepare detailed investigative reports leading to disciplinary actions
- Provide testimony in administrative, civil, or criminal proceedings

Qualifications
Minimum requirements include a bachelor's degree and relevant experience. Additional desirable qualifications include knowledge of automotive systems diagnosis and repair, motor vehicle emissions controls testing and repair, and automotive collision repair and refinish.
Skills
Technical knowledge of automotive repair practices, ability to interpret and apply complex laws, policies, and procedures, and the ability to work independently with minimum supervision.

Pay
$5,873.00 - $8,008.00 per month. Final salary may vary based on experience and qualifications.

Special Requirements
Medical clearance is required prior to employment. Applicants must have a work record clear of revocation or suspension of departmental-issued licenses for Vehicle Safety Systems Inspection, Smog Technician, and/or Smog Inspector.
