Job Summary
Rydell Chevrolet – Waterloo, IA is seeking an experienced Automotive Parts Manager to lead their Parts Department. The ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of Automotive Parts Manager experience, strong leadership skills, and a passion for developing a high-performing team.
About the Role
This position oversees all aspects of the Parts Department, including inventory management, wholesale and retail sales, team development, operational efficiency, and profitability. The Automotive Parts Manager also partners with the Service Department to ensure timely parts availability and manages wholesale parts operations and customer relationships.
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing Parts Department team
- Manage daily department operations to ensure efficiency and profitability
- Deliver exceptional service to retail, wholesale, and internal customers
- Oversee inventory control, purchasing, receiving, pricing, and merchandising
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and minimize obsolescence
- Monitor department sales, gross profit, expenses, and key performance metrics
- Develop and implement strategies to increase parts sales and profitability
- Partner with the Service Department to ensure timely parts availability
- Manage wholesale parts operations and customer relationships
- Ensure compliance with dealership policies, manufacturer requirements, and safety standards
- Recruit, train, mentor, and evaluate department personnel
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, customers, and dealership leadership
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of Automotive Parts Manager experience required
- Proven success leading a profitable and high-performing Parts Department
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team-development skills
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Experience with inventory management, controls, and forecasting
- Strong understanding of retail, wholesale, and internal parts operations
- Ability to analyze financial reports and department performance metrics
- High level of professionalism, accountability, and integrity
- Strong customer service focus
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record
Qualifications
- Automotive parts sales experience is preferred
- Experience with dealership management systems and inventory software is preferred
- Knowledge of GM parts operations and manufacturer programs is preferred
