Automotive Journeyman Technician
Job Description
Sought is a dependable Automotive Technician to bolster our esteemed fleet maintenance team. This role entails maintaining a broad spectrum of equipment, encompassing delivery vehicles, heavy-duty on-road tractors, and trailers from diverse manufacturers. These vehicles utilize propulsion systems including diesel, gasoline, and alternative technologies like compressed natural gas, liquefied natural gas, propane, hybrid, and electric in certain locations. Automotive Technicians are expected to demonstrate proficiency in diagnosing and repairing various systems, such as hydraulic brakes, air brakes, electrical systems, and engine controls.
Responsibilities And Duties
- Maintains compliance with Department of Transportation (D.O.T.) regulations as per job requirements
- Frequent bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing ladders and stairs, standing, walking, turning, and pivoting throughout the workday
- Sitting occasionally, as needed, during the workday
- Performing tasks requiring simple hand grasping, power hand grasping, fine hand manipulation, and reaching from foot level to above shoulder level
- Operating standard and manual transmissions
- Utilizing power and pneumatic tools
Requirements
- Active driver’s license issued by the state Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Air Brake Endorsement - Preferred
- Willingness to work 2nd or 3rd shifts, including Monday through Friday, Sunday through Thursday as well as Tuesday through Saturday schedules, depending on the location’s need
- Possession of required hand tools for the applicable job assignment
Knowledge And Skills
- Current documented automotive mechanical experience
- Experience utilizing diagnostic equipment, scan tools, and personal computer
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of Products
- Possession of a full complement of personal hand tools
- Dependable with the ability to report to work regularly and complete scheduled workdays consistently
- Available to work varied shifts, additional hours, and/or overtime based on service needs
- Wearing personal protective equipment as required
- Working in an environment with variable temperatures and humidity, exposure to cleaning materials, petroleum products, dust, dirt, noise, outside inclement weather, etc.
- Communicating effectively through sight, hearing, and/or otherwise to perform assigned tasks and maintain proper job safety conditions
Compensation
The starting pay for this position is $39.31 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions.
