Automotive Installation Technician

About the role

Protech Automotive Solutions and its affiliated brands seeks to hire skilled and dedicated individuals to provide exceptional service to their customers. The ideal candidate will have a background in automotive repair, electrical, mechanical, or installation, with a focus on quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Install and troubleshoot GPS, ELDs, telematics, dash cameras, sensors, and tracking equipment on light-duty vehicles, commercial trucks, tractors, trailers, and other fleet assets.
• Perform basic 12V/24V wiring, including power, ignition, ground, diagnostic, and trailer connections.
• Route and secure wiring for clean, professional installations.
• Test GPS, cellular connectivity, cameras, sensors, and system functionality.
• Diagnose electrical, connectivity, and installation issues.
• Document completed installations with photos, device information, and service notes.
• Travel to customer and fleet locations for mobile installations and projects.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and right-first-time installations.

Requirements

• Hands-on automotive, electrical, mechanical, or installation experience.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems and basic diagnostics.
• Comfortable using hand and power tools.
• Ability to read basic wiring diagrams and technical instructions.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working independently in a mobile environment.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in quality work.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in, around, and underneath vehicles and trailers.
• Age 21 or older.

Qualifications

• Experience with Samsara, Geotab, Motive, Verizon Connect, Lytx, or similar platforms is a plus.
• Telematics/GPS/ELD installation experience is a plus.
• Commercial truck or trailer experience is a plus.
• ADAS scanning or calibration experience is a plus.
• ASE, I-CAR, or related certifications are a plus.
