Automotive General Service Technician

About the role

As a General Service Technician, you’ll help keep our customers safe on the road by performing essential vehicle maintenance and supporting shop operations. This is an opportunity to grow with an industry leader—many of our leaders started here!

Responsibilities

• Tire mounting, dismounting, balancing, and rotation
• Oil changes and other light vehicle maintenance
• Multi-point inspections and documenting vehicle conditions
• Keeping the shop clean, organized, and safe
• Driving vehicles safely and courteously while obeying all traffic laws
• Picking up parts and supplies
• Transporting customers as needed
• Following all safety procedures and reporting concerns to your supervisor
• Supporting team members with other assigned tasks
• Adhering to Sun Auto’s core values and company policies

Requirements

• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
• Some knowledge of basic automotive systems (preferred)
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Flexibility to work Saturdays (with Sundays off)

Skills

• Ability to stand for up to eight hours per day and walk to access various areas of the building
• Bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch regularly; full range of motion with arms and hands
• Lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 70 pounds frequently
• Communicate effectively with customers and shop personnel
• Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re-focus
• High level of motivation to work in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions

• Exposure to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous/non-hazardous materials
• Work environment temperature varies and may include extreme heat and/or cold
• Use of safety goggles or other PPE may be required

Pay

$14–$17 per hour, depending on experience and skill set.
