Position Summary

The Automotive Field Support Representative (FSR) provides on-site technical support, diagnostics, maintenance assistance, and operational guidance for an 8x8 tactical truck-based platform. This role serves as the primary interface between field units, program engineering teams, and customer stakeholders to ensure effective deployment, operation, and sustainment of the vehicle. The position requires strong automotive systems expertise, prior experience supporting military vehicle platforms, and the ability to operate independently in field and test environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site technical support for operation, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of 8x8 tactical truck systems, including powertrain, suspension, driveline, electrical, electronic, and hydraulic subsystems.
  • Serve as the primary field point-of-contact for operators, maintainers, and customer representatives.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on mechanical and electrical issues and coordinate corrective actions with engineering teams.
  • Conduct field inspections, technical assessments, and configuration checks to ensure platform readiness and compliance.
  • Support vehicle upgrades, retrofits, technical modifications, and system integration activities in field settings.
  • Document and report field issues, maintenance trends, fault codes, and operational constraints, providing clear and actionable feedback to engineering and logistics personnel.
  • Provide hands-on operator and maintainer training, including instruction on system functionality, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist in field test events, demonstrations, and evaluation activities in varied environmental conditions.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, maintenance, and configuration-control standards during all field operations.
  • Travel regularly to field sites, customer locations, test areas, and partner facilities as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Systems, Engineering, or equivalent military vehicle maintenance training.
  • Professional experience supporting automotive, tactical, or military vehicle platforms.
  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle systems including diesel engines, transmissions, driveline components, hydraulic systems, electrical subsystems, and onboard diagnostics.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve complex mechanical and electrical issues using technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience working in field or operational environments, including field maintenance, test support, or logistics roles.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel frequently and work in a variety of field conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting 6x6 or 8x8 tactical wheeled vehicle platforms (e.g., PLS, HEMTT, MTVR, or equivalent).
  • Active or eligible DoD security clearance.
  • Familiarity with Army technical manuals (TMs), maintenance practices, and sustainment processes.
  • Experience interfacing with engineering, logistics, and program management organizations.
  • Previous leadership roles in field support, depot maintenance, or military motor pool operations.
