About the Role

This is a 12‑month limited‑term, full‑time position at Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk, Los Angeles County. The role is based on‑site (no telework) and may be terminated at any time or converted to permanent status. Under the direction of the Automotive Pool Manager II or designee, the operator works in a fast‑paced hospital setting with a wide variety of assignments.

Responsibilities

• Operate and service passenger vehicles, trucks, small‑wheeled tractors, and similar motor equipment
• Perform general laboring work
• Instruct, lead, or supervise wards or resident workers as needed
• Operate, service, wash, and make minor adjustments and repairs to automotive equipment
• Transport passengers
• Load, unload, and deliver laundry, food, furniture, freight, farm products, gravel, rubbish, and other materials
• Perform miscellaneous manual laboring work and messenger service
• Keep simple records and perform other related duties

Requirements

• Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A or B with Passenger endorsement
• Valid California Driver License
• Must provide CDL number, class, expiration date, endorsements, and restrictions on application
• Selected candidates must submit a copy of their DMV driver’s record
