Description

The St. Louis County Department of Transportation and Public Works is seeking an experienced Automotive and Equipment Mechanic II. The typical starting salary range is between $21.20 - $25.44 hourly, depending on qualifications and experience. • Examples of Duties:

  • Perform inspection, maintenance, preventive maintenance and repair of gas- and diesel-powered vehicles.
  • Perform welding repairs and light sheet metal fabrication.
  • Provide mentoring and cross training to fellow employees to enhance their skills.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned, including emergency snow removal services.

Minimum Qualifications

• Technical School Training: Three years of automotive and equipment repair experience at the master mechanic level.

• Experience: Valid driver's license.

• Additional Certifications: Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification (MAC or ASE), Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Additional Information

Selection and Appointment: The selection committee evaluates qualifications based on education, experience, and answers to supplemental questions. The interview comprises 100% of the grading, and candidates must score 70 or higher to be considered.
