About the Role
Blue Man Group Orlando is seeking on-call Automation Technicians to assist in the maintenance, fabrication, and operation of scenic elements, automation, and carpentry equipment. This position involves running show tracks, supporting rehearsals, and providing automation and carpentry support for performances and gigs. Strong communication, teamwork, and the ability to work under deadlines are essential.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the maintenance and installation of scenic elements, rigging, automation, and backstage equipment under the Automation & Carpentry Department.
- Manage inventory of shop materials and consumables.
- Attend meetings as required by management.
- Support supplemental automation and scenic needs for rehearsals, training, appearances, and gigs.
- Adhere to workplace safety requirements and guidelines, including OSHA regulations.
- Run automation and carpentry show tracks as scheduled.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair automated elements as needed.
- Participate in load-in and load-out, assisting other departments as required.
- Perform all other work-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Theatrical carpentry and rigging skills.
- Automation and entertainment electrical experience is an asset.
- Ability to work in low-light environments.
- Adherence to OSHA regulations and participation in health and safety training.
- Contribute to a safe and positive working environment by following Cirque du Soleil standards and policies.
- Assist other departments for cross-departmental support.
- At least 2 years of previous experience in a similar environment.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Production or equivalent work experience.
- Ability to obtain an OSHA 10 course completion card.
- Fluent in English (written and spoken) with clear headset communication skills.
- Availability to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as climbing, crouching, kneeling, standing for extended periods, lifting at least 50 lbs, and working with limited visibility.
- Verification of the right to work in the United States.
Pay
This is an on-call hourly position, eligible for overtime and 401K. Compensation is location-specific and will be determined based on skills, prior relevant experience, and work location.
