About the role
The Automation System Integrator position is within Oxy's US Onshore Resources & Carbon Management Business Unit based in Casper, Wyoming. This role involves executing Automation Engineering deliverables, supporting design and control systems improvements, and managing timely project deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate facility commissioning with a focus on automation control systems
- Maintain project schedules to meet timelines
- Engage in project meetings and design reviews
- Develop and validate automation programs ensuring compliance to engineering documentation
- Complete redlines and relevant documentation to support current AS-Built post-commissioning
- Follow company Management of Change (MOC) process
- Support operations and automation specialists with training on automation control system functions
- Aid in evaluating new technologies providing pro and con analogies
- Assist customers (operations) as liaison with Automation Engineering to assist in design of projects and a desired operating philosophy
- Participate in Oxy Process Improvement Teams
- Support low voltage devices including transformers, breaker boxes, electrical switches, heaters, motors, and analyzers
- Provide troubleshooting and basic repair to 120V AC power supply to automation systems and devices
- Support troubleshooting of 480V and less of AC power availability and notify electrical team of findings needing service/repair
- Support automation end devices (switches, transmitters, etc.) - calibrate, troubleshoot, install, and use Hart communicator and multi meters
- Identify and troubleshoot Ethernet, serial, satellite and wireless field communications
- Ensure alarms are within Oxy standards, accurately represent the process, function as intended, and follow appropriate change control protocols
- Communicate project activities with Asset Teams
- Assist in evaluation of new technologies providing pro and con analogies

- Participate in Oxy Process Improvement Teams
- Active participation in Oxy Process Improvement Teams
- Ability and willingness to travel to support unassigned job areas on an as-needed basis
- Ability and willingness to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and participate in an on-call rotation when needed
Qualifications
- 2-year technical degree or equivalent working experience
- 1+ years Automation Specialist/Tech experience
- 7+ years Automation Integrator/Programming experience
- 3+ years of Oil Field Process Facilities experience
- Advanced level of understanding of automation and electrical design principles
- Advanced Knowledge & technical skills working with PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, POCs (Allan Bradley, Totalflow, ROCs, Coriolis, etc.) and automation end devices
- Intermediate knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.)
- Advanced understanding of PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Review) and MOCs (Management of Change)
- Advanced understanding of automation systems and how they connect through networks
- Advanced understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting
- Experienced in tagging conventions, programming simulation and testing
- Extensive expertise in safe work systems
- Expertise in Electrical / Automation construction codes and practices
- Extensive knowledge of automation equipment specifications and application
- Advanced Time management skills with ability to prioritize multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines
- Ability to work and perform under pressure
- Understanding of gas engineering principles and gas measurement standards
- Proficiencies in Leadership, Mentoring and Training
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Windows Operating Systems
