Automation Specialist

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Support the daily operations of the business unit through the installation, programming, start-up and maintenance of automation and process control equipment
• Responsible for the design, specification, installation, programming, calibration, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of automation equipment in order to improve plant system operation/uptime and reduce total operating costs
• Support all types of plant activity including DCS, PLC, measurement facilities, natural gas collection systems, gas compressors, and gas plant processing equipment
• Work closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Information Technology Groups
• Thoroughness and attention to detail are required as a significant amount of time will be spent working with complex PLC programs and advanced process control systems
• Subject to overtime and call-out work as needed
• Will be subject to other tasks as assigned

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

• Education: High School Diploma or GED
• Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills
• Excellent diagnostic and repair skills for complex problems in automation systems
• Skilled in reading electronic schematics, identifying components, and understanding their functions
• Able to read, program, install and troubleshoot complex PLC programs
• Good computer skills

Working Conditions

• Office environment with prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
• Outdoor work in adverse or extreme weather conditions
• Required to frequently drive to other field facilities within their assigned region
• Available outside of normal working hours as needed for business necessity

Physical Requirements

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
• Ability to work effectively in all working conditions noted above
• Will require lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 62 lbs. in a safe manner on an occasional basis
