Automation (Python) ClickHouse QA Engineer / SDET, Security Focus

About the role

Altinity is looking for a ClickHouse QA Engineer / SDET with a security focus to help deliver high-quality analytic data services across all environments and address emerging security threats. Along with other testing professionals, you will test features in the ClickHouse server, client interfaces, and related services. Responsibilities include verifying SQL, REST, native client APIs, authentication, authorization, RBAC, OAuth integrations, FIPS compatibility, and Linux, filesystem, networking, and process-level interfaces in the stack.

You will write automated tests, run AI-assisted security scans, assist with scheduled CVE scans, and turn validated findings into reliable regression tests. Much of our software is open source, and tests make heavy use of open-source tools and techniques. Your test code may be publicly visible, so it must be high-quality. You will use AI daily but must demonstrate core technical skills without it.

Responsibilities

• Write automated tests for ClickHouse server, client interfaces, and related services
• Run AI-assisted security scans and scheduled CVE scans
• Convert validated security findings into regression tests
• Test SQL, REST, native client APIs, authentication, authorization, RBAC, OAuth integrations, FIPS compatibility, and Linux/system-level interfaces
• Collaborate with a remote team to ensure software quality and security

Requirements

• 3+ years of hands-on testing experience in DBMS, cloud services, storage, or operating systems
• Strong working knowledge of Docker, Linux, and network security fundamentals
• Experience with or strong interest in security testing, including CVE triage, dependency scanning, Docker image scanning (e.g., Grype or Trivy), authentication, authorization, RBAC, OAuth, TLS, FIPS, secrets handling, and security-hardened systems
• Excellent knowledge of Python, C++, and bash scripting
• Expertise in designing enterprise-level functional tests for cloud services, client libraries, or service APIs
• Experience with modern CI/CD systems like GitHub Actions
• Tenacity in breaking software and systematic bug documentation
• Discipline to follow test processes and work independently with minimal supervision
• Ability to pass a technical interview without AI and openness to in-person interviews
