About the role
As a member of the Automation team, the Automation Project Manager will lead, support, implement, and manage automation projects while driving innovation in advancements. The candidate will use their vast knowledge, experience, and resourcefulness to lead and implement automation cells and drive standards across North America. You will have project ownership from quote handoff to project close, providing customer support and communication, and will be responsible for related activities performed by multi-disciplined cross-functional teams. Responsibilities
- Provide leadership for projects including scope, risk, timing, cost, and quality
- Act as the main customer point of contact, communicating and facilitating the design and build process while ensuring customer satisfaction, including weekly updates and direct communication to resolve open issues
- Report status updates to both the customer and in-house teams during the project
- Share best practices and lessons learned in monthly BP reviews after project completion
- Act as the driving force for the team, promoting cooperation, conflict resolution, and negotiation
- Understand the financial details and budget of each assigned project; ensure projects stay within budget and alert management when the job approaches 80% of budget
- Create RFQs and track purchases with all ASI departments
- Develop and submit quotes to Lear, ensuring the scope in the quote matches the SOW or aligns with the team’s request
- Develop a milestone timeline and kick off the job with a meeting involving all leaders at ASI and the Automation Team that will impact the job
- Develop and manage issues lists, communicate them weekly, and strive daily to close open issues
- Drive resolution and manage the schedule to allow the team to complete the job
- Communicate to the customer timing for FAT and any shipping arrangements that need to be made
- Handle all other project management responsibilities and tasks
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of experience and education
- Good communicator, organized, and self-motivated
- 5+ years of experience in the industrial automation or engineering services industry
- 5+ years of experience in project management
- PMP certification desired but not required
