Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IVX) - Bristol, TN
About the role
This position is responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from the Omnicell automated IV equipment. The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 will prepare and maintain the Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, perform advanced equipment troubleshooting, maintain optimal medication inventory levels, and review/maintain reports. The role also involves engaging with various levels of customer service by identifying and addressing customer concerns, and reporting to the Pharmacy Services Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error-free manner, consistent with prescribed guidelines.
- Perform IV automation equipment cleaning and maintenance.
- Follow Safe Handling of Hazardous Drugs procedures when handling medications.
- Identify and order medications to ensure medication inventories are at optimal levels.
- Monitor and order consumable supplies required for the operation of the equipment.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment; report unresolved equipment issues to the IV HD.
- Maintain a high level of communication with the Pharmacy Services Manager and customers to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution.
- Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction by aligning the Pharmacy Services Program to provide customer-focused support emphasizing quality, professionalism, and responsiveness.
- Act as a liaison between OMCL and the customer to assist with customer concerns.
- Comply with IV Compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility.
- Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling.
- Maintain state and/or national credentialing to meet established guidelines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certificate (PTCB/NHA-CPhT or EXCPT).
- Active State Board of Pharmacy Technician License/Registration with the State of TN.
- Sterile IV Compounding and cleanroom experience.
- COVID-19 vaccination.

- Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Pharmacy Services department.
- 2+ years of IV Compounding experience.
- Hospital/Inpatient Pharmacy Technician experience.
- Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications.
- Proficient in the use of PPE and hand hygiene techniques.
- Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements.
- Working knowledge of pharmacy automation.
Work Conditions
Location: Must be able to commute to work at 1 Medical Park Blvd., Bristol, TN 37620.

- Must be able to travel out of state for training.
- Able to lift 25–30 lbs.
Schedule
Shift(s): Monday–Thursday, 4×10-hour shifts. Possible working hours 6:00 AM–1:00 AM. Three staggered shift start times: 6:00 AM, 8:00 AM, or 12:00 PM.
Pay
For the State of TN, the hourly rate is $25+ per hour. Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as location, education, experience, and skillset.
