Automation Equipment Mechanic - 12hr Night Shift

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment, including diagnosing and resolving electrical, mechanical, and process issues on complex manufacturing cells.
• Connect to PLCs to troubleshoot automated equipment failures.
• Maintain electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic control systems for automation cells.
• Interpret written specifications, schematic drawings, parts lists, prints, and sketches for installation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
• Effectively communicate technical problems with management and other groups.
• Fabricate specialized tooling using various machine shop functions.
• Perform preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including inspecting, repairing, and maintaining site equipment in accordance with documented Standard Operating Procedures.
• Document completion of preventative maintenance tasks per Standard Operating Procedures.
• Support the development of preventive maintenance procedures for site manufacturing equipment.
• Maintain documentation according to internal and external regulations, including periodic reviews and updates for Preventative Maintenance procedures and work instructions.
• Comply with and maintain training of related Standard Operating Procedures.
• Document activities for all equipment interactions, including Preventive Maintenance, breakdowns, and others.
• Update electrical and mechanical drawings as needed to sustain accurate prints.
• Provide next-level support within the Scottsville manufacturing site, including coaching and training for Manufacturing Maintenance Mechanics and operators on automation process functions and best practices.
• Work extended hours, including mandatory overtime, to complete daily department goals or tasks as business needs dictate.
• Support Engineering on improvements and initiatives to facilitate the achievement of site goals.
• Perform other duties as directed by the department manager.

Travel: This position may require local travel as needed, less than 5%.

Requirements

• Minimum three years of maintenance experience in controls and/or electro-mechanical fields.
• Associate degree or equivalent two-year technical school preferred; or three years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program, military program, or trade school with 3 years of experience.

Skills

• PLC (Allen Bradley) and CNC experience preferred.
• Injection Molding Machine experience desired.
• Electro-mechanical, machinist, and/or electrician experience.
• Machine shop experience, including Lathe & Mill operation preferred.
• Strong communication skills – verbal, written, and comprehension of the English language.
• Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and Regulatory requirements.
• MS Office experience preferred.

Work Environment

• Clean environments, medical device manufacturing.
• Work near moving mechanical parts.
• Exposure to common machine chemicals or solvents (oil/cleaning agents).

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking – 50-75% of the time.
• Lifting up to 50 lbs.

Pay

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $25.50 to $33.00 per hour, depending on qualifications, skills, experience, and other business-related factors. This position is also eligible for an added 15% per hour shift differential.
