What You'll Do
- Program ladder logic and structured text on multiple PLC controller platforms (Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
- Program and teach industrial 6-axis robots (Fanuc).
- Sequence complex, multi-station machinery for material pick-and-place, dispense, fastening, welding and conveyance applications.
- Develop, debug, and document structured PLC code interacting with conveyors, robots, MES, vision systems, and 3rd-party equipment.
- Sustain paint operations with following systems: Pretreatment, Conveyor, Ovens, Cooling, Powder Coating Applications, Sealant & Glue Dispensing, Dust Collectors, Robotic Cells & Vision Systems.
- Take ownership of manufacturing processes, analyzing performance metrics and optimizing equipment to maximize safety and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of equipment upgrades or installation, coordinating with internal teams or external integrators.
- Develop and maintain equipment and process documentation such as Equipment Maintenance Specifications, safety guidelines, BOMs, schematics, and operation procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments for equipment under development and lead safety buyoffs before launch.
- Sustain 24 by 7 production operations through responding to and resolving breakdowns quickly and efficiently to minimize downtime, specifically focusing on the powder coat/paint systems.
- Design NFPA79/NEC/UL508A-compliant control panels and create electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics.
- Implement ANSI/RIA15.06/OSHA-compliant safety systems for high-volume manufacturing equipment.
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a hands-on Controls Engineer or Equipment Engineer working on automated fast-paced manufacturing environment, including exposure to safety best practices and changing management systems.
- Experience with industrial robot programming (Fanuc, Kuka, Durr, Cartesian, SCARA, or articulated systems).
- Experience in installation, commissioning industrial paint shops (with practical experience with the operation and maintenance of manufacturing equipment and systems, including conveyors, pneumatics, servos, spray booths, pretreatment systems, ovens, air handling units and paint/dispense applicators. First-hand experience with specific equipment manufacturers such as Fanuc, SEW, Atlas Copco, Gema, Nordson, Wagner, Durr,etc. is preferred).
- Demonstrated ability in PLC, HMI, and debugging mechatronic systems and exposure programming at the Siemens primary equipment brand used in the coating line.
- Strong mechanical design and analysis skills, engineering mechanics and kinematics fundamentals. Experience with CAD modeling software like Catia, SolidWorks, Inventor, ProE, AutoCAD, Autodesk, Ansys etc.
- Proven troubleshooting skills, root cause analysis, and problem-solving under tight timing constraints.
