About the role

Aurora is seeking an Automation Engineer II to join its IT Operations team. This role focuses on building automation pipelines that streamline IT work, ensuring processes are repeatable, auditable, and scalable.

Responsibilities

  • Build automation for employee and contractor onboarding and offboarding workflows, creating processes that reduce manual touchpoints.
  • Develop the response and task-execution logic for Aurora’s Slack-based IT support bot, enabling direct resolution of user-submitted issues.
  • Implement logic to determine when issues can be resolved automatically versus when they should escalate to human intervention.
  • Ensure all automated resolutions are fully auditable and loggable for traceability and reviewability.
  • Identify high-volume manual and repetitive ticket patterns and translate them into automation projects.
  • Design and implement governance automations to maintain compliance without manual intervention.
  • Set up alerting pipelines for compliance drift, escalating issues to platform owners when necessary.
  • Collaborate with the IAM team to build integrations for access reviews and provisioning into non-SCIM, non-Okta-managed applications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or JavaScript/TypeScript for building automation and workflow tools.
  • Experience with Bash/shell scripting for systems-level automation.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and webhooks/message queues for automated workflows.
  • Experience with LLM-driven automations and decision-making based on context.
  • Familiarity with OAuth2.0/OIDC and API authentication for secure service-to-service integration.
  • Familiarity with REST and/or GraphQL APIs across multiple platforms and vendors.
  • Track record of driving automation projects from requirements to implementation.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Familiarity with prompt-based orchestration frameworks/platforms.
  • Understanding of identity and access management concepts including SCIM and non-SCIM provisioning.
  • Experience in IT operations, corporate engineering, or platform engineering environments.

Benefits

The base salary range for this position is $96,000 - $139,000 per year. Aurora offers an annual bonus, equity compensation, and comprehensive benefits.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $96,000 - $139,000 per Year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions.

Schedule

Aurora operates in a hybrid work environment where employees are expected to be in the office at least 3 days per week.
