Automation Engineer - Only for US Citizen's & Green Card Holder's About The Company We are a rapidly growing specialty chemical manufacturer utilizing state-of-the-art continuous-flow chemistry equipment and process intensification technologies to produce high-value specialty chemicals for industrial and defense markets. Our products range from additives used in rocket propellants to advanced chemicals for semiconductor processing. About The Role We are seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions for chemical production processes. The ideal candidate will have direct experience developing software for automation systems, along with a strong understanding of electromechanical hardware interfaces. In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of chemical and mechanical engineers, process operators, and technicians to support both R&D and production activities. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and optimize PLC software using best practices for deployment, scalability, and maintainability across multiple process lines.Support the engineering design and implementation of new chemical processes through automation.Troubleshoot automation software, PLC systems, instrumentation, and related hardware.Implement quality management practices across automation software and hardware designs.Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to automation systems and production processes.Collaborate closely with chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, process operators, and technicians to support R&D and production.Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members and ensure thorough technical documentation.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.Follow all workplace safety programs and procedures related to chemical and industrial hazards.Manage time and priorities effectively to meet project and production requirements. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.3-10 years of relevant professional experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages, with strong emphasis on Structured Text (ST).Familiarity with functional safety, HMI design, and alarm management standards and practices.Hands-on experience with PLC-based automation systems, industrial controls, and instrumentation.Strong understanding of electromechanical hardware interfaces.Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.Must be able to successfully pass a background check. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with industrial control equipment.Knowledge of UL 508 and related industrial control standards.Experience working in chemical manufacturing, process automation, R&D, or other highly regulated industrial environments.
