About The Role

We are seeking a hands-on Automation Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions for chemical production processes. The ideal candidate will have direct experience developing software for automation systems, along with a strong understanding of electromechanical hardware interfaces. In this role, you will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of chemical and mechanical engineers, process operators, and technicians to support both R&D and production activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and optimize PLC software using best practices for deployment, scalability, and maintainability across multiple process lines.
• Support the engineering design and implementation of new chemical processes through automation.
• Troubleshoot automation software, PLC systems, instrumentation, and related hardware.
• Implement quality management practices across automation software and hardware designs.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to automation systems and production processes.
• Collaborate closely with chemical engineers, mechanical engineers, process operators, and technicians to support R&D and production.
• Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members and ensure thorough technical documentation.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all workplace safety programs and procedures related to chemical and industrial hazards.
• Manage time and priorities effectively to meet project and production requirements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3-10 years of relevant professional experience in industrial automation or controls engineering.
• Proficiency in IEC 61131-3 programming languages, with strong emphasis on Structured Text (ST).
• Familiarity with functional safety, HMI design, and alarm management standards and practices.
• Hands-on experience with PLC-based automation systems, industrial controls, and instrumentation.
• Strong understanding of electromechanical hardware interfaces.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
• Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
