Automation Engineer

Job SummaryOur client is seeking a hands-on Infrastructure Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain automation across our environment. The ideal candidate has strong experience with Ansible, Terraform, Linux systems, scripting, and database environments including Cassandra and Oracle. This role is well suited for an engineer who enjoys automating infrastructure and operational processes, troubleshooting complex environments, and building reliable, maintainable solutions. The role will also leverage AI-assisted development tools, with an emphasis on independent engineering judgment and ownership of the resulting code. Core Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain Ansible playbooks and roles for configuration management, deployment, and operational tasksDevelop and manage Terraform modules and infrastructure as codePerform Linux system administration and troubleshootingSupport and maintain Cassandra and SQL/Oracle database environmentsTroubleshoot automation failures, infrastructure drift, and configuration issuesIntegrate automation with CI/CD pipelines and version control systemsDevelop scripts and tooling using Python, Bash, or similar languagesUse AI-assisted development tools to improve development efficiency while validating and testing all generated codeDocument automation, infrastructure, and processes for long-term maintainabilityCollaborate with networking, database, security, and platform engineering teamsIdentify opportunities to automate repetitive operational and infrastructure tasks Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Experience in Automation Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, DevOps, Systems Engineering, or a related roleStrong hands-on experience with AnsibleStrong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as CodeStrong Linux administration and troubleshooting skillsPractical experience with Cassandra and SQL/database environmentsScripting experience with Python, Bash, or a similar languageExperience with Git and CI/CD conceptsExperience using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude, Copilot, ChatGPT, or similarStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) Experience with Oracle databasesExperience with AWS, Azure, or GCPExperience with monitoring and observability toolsExperience with additional configuration management or IaC tools such as Puppet, Chef, or CloudFormationUnderstanding of basic Wi-Fi and networking conceptsExperience supporting infrastructure across multiple environments Work Environment Location: Greenwood Village, COHands-on infrastructure automation environment focused on Ansible, Terraform, Linux, scripting, and database supportOpportunity to work with modern automation, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development toolsCollaborative environment partnering with networking, database, security, and platform engineering teams Compensation & BenefitsPay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $37.00 and $53.00.
