About the role

Join E Tech Group, one of the largest engineering and system integration firms in the United States, providing IT automation and control solutions for over 30 years to industries including Life Sciences, Mission Critical, Metals & Mining, Warehousing & Distribution, and CPG/Food & Beverage. As an Automation Engineer, you will lead or contribute to detailed hardware and software design of process automation control systems projects, from defining architecture requirements to commissioning and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide application and control systems design and development for systems of varying complexity
  • Develop and evaluate alternative system solutions that meet stated requirements
  • Modify program/system logic involving multiple systems and subsystems using ladder logic, structured text, or function block
  • Develop proficiency in several programming languages and control device networks for PLCs, HMIs, and DCS
  • Interact with customers to understand the business environment, define scope, plans, and deliverables for assigned work
  • Work successfully in a team environment supporting a variety of industries (wastewater, chemical, discrete control)
  • Program PLC and SCADA applications, configure thin client server applications, and tune control loops
  • Provide control system startup, commissioning services, and control system qualifications
  • Troubleshoot existing control systems

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • 2+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education
  • Experience reading and interpreting control system electrical design packages
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting control systems and an understanding of process controls
  • Rockwell experience with products such as: ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PlantPax, Factory Talk Software Suite, Studio 5000, PLC5, SLC500, RSView, PanelView Plus, etc.
  • Working knowledge of control system networks (Ethernet, ControlNet, DeviceNet, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset
