Automation Engineer

Responsibilities

• Plant-wide programming of automation and controls systems
• Facilitate projects, assist with troubleshooting, train technicians, implement new policies and procedures
• Modify existing HMI graphics, create new graphics based on existing library of blocks, alarms, trends, back up and restore HMI projects, maintain and troubleshoot industrial PCs and touchscreens
• Configure and interface with field instruments (Ethernet/IP and hardwired I/O) including VFDs, level sensors, flow meters, chart recorders, photo eyes, temperature sensors
• Modify existing control panels and design new control panels as needed (AC/DC power distribution, fuses, breakers, terminal blocks, power supplies)
• Conform to electrical standards including NFPA 70E
• Troubleshoot and maintain Ethernet networks; understand IP addressing, netmasks, gateways, DNS, switches, routers, Cat5(e) wiring
• Troubleshoot and maintain communication networks (DH+, ControlNet, DeviceNet, IO Link)
• Assist with problem solving to keep the plant running
