Automation & Controls Technician – Day Shift

About the role

Morris & Dickson is seeking an Automation & Controls Technician to support warehouse automation systems and Coldtainer temperature-controlled equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on conveyors, robotics, sortation systems, and other automated equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control system issues using schematics and diagnostic tools
  • Repair or replace components to ensure optimal system performance
  • Support system upgrades and improvements in collaboration with engineering and technology teams
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and equipment history
  • Inspect and maintain Coldtainer temperature-controlled units used in the distribution center and delivery vehicles
  • Troubleshoot electrical components, sensors, switches, and charging systems
  • Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Coverage of Coldtainer units when needed and ensure equipment remains operational
  • Follow all safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements
  • Ensure all maintenance work meets safety, operational, and quality standards

What You’ll Need To Succeed

  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience maintaining automated systems, industrial equipment, refrigeration systems, or electrical equipment
  • Ability to read technical schematics and equipment manuals
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Experience using electrical diagnostic tools such as multimeters
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PLCs, sensors, actuators, or automation controls
  • Technical certification or vocational training in automation, electrical systems, HVAC, refrigeration, or mechanical systems

Schedule

1st Shift (M-F daytime hours, 7am-5pm)

Pay Range

$26 - $30 USD per hour
