Automation Controls Engineer
About the role
The Automation Controls Engineer at Materion will design, fabricate, program, install, modify, and repair all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery. Responsibilities include developing electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles, generating electrical schematics and documentation, performing PLC/HMI/Automation Controller programming, defining scope documents for new and existing equipment, establishing product acceptance criteria, analyzing project requirements, and performing technical calculations.
Responsibilities
- Design, fabricate, program, install, modify, and repair electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
- Develop electrical and controls system design solutions based on engineering principles.
- Generate electrical schematics and documentation necessary to install and troubleshoot control systems and interface it to other system components.
- Perform PLC/HMI/Automation Controller programming with emphasis on program reliability, safety, and ease of troubleshooting documentation.
- Define scope documents for new and existing equipment from external providers.
- Establish product acceptance criteria.
- Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent demonstrated required capability as an Automation technician for 5 years.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Preferred: knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma principles.
Qualifications
