About the role

The Controls Engineer will provide controls and electrical engineering support to the assigned UAP cell and maintenance efforts. They will become an expert to assist maintenance in supporting the plant UAP through troubleshooting and problem-solving methodologies, aiming to eliminate downtime and decrease quality defects for customers. The role involves writing, creating, and modifying programs to meet plant objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide controls and manufacturing engineering support to assigned UAP areas and plant-wide initiatives.
• Support the Quality Department and Quality Engineer as required.
• Assist the Maintenance Department in equipment troubleshooting to reduce and eliminate downtime.
• Review processes and procedures on an ongoing basis for safety, quality, and production efficiency.
• Assist in other UAP support as assigned.
• Participate in Hoshin and Continuous Improvement events as assigned.
• Participate as TS16949 and/or ISO 14001 Internal Auditor as assigned.
• Coordinate with Maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Maintain PFMEA and all downstream documents for minor changes.
• Provide input into PFMEA generation for new programs.
• Provide justification for standards changes.
• Support QRQC’s for customer quality issues.
• Provide and update parts drawings (mechanical and electrical) for maintenance.
• Provide input into EO meetings.
• Maintain 5-S standards in the plant.
• Provide justification for major purchases for Core Group management.
• Stay informed of environmental aspects and quality issues related to the position and department.
• Follow procedures and work to eliminate or reduce PFMEA ratings and PPM.
• Complete all other duties and tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

• Minimum education level: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Technical Discipline; or 5 years of experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
• Manufacturing experience (automotive experience preferred).
• Experience with AutoCAD (electrical and mechanical) and Allen Bradley software/programming.
