Automation Application Engineer
About the role
The Automation Application Engineer supports customers in selecting and implementing automation products that best meet their technical and budgetary needs. The role involves meeting directly with customers, providing training and programming assistance, and supporting key accounts that regularly purchase automation solutions. Collaboration with vendors to ensure optimal product selection, as well as internal support for sales teams through technical guidance, product interchanges, bill-of-material management, and supplier updates, is also required.
Responsibilities
- Meet with customers in person. Propose automation products with the best combination of performance, cost and availability to those customers based on their requirements. Can be with or without primary Baldwin account managers.
- Sustain support for key accounts who consistently purchase automation products from Baldwin. Support can include training, product enhancements, and programming support.
- Collaborate with vendors at customer sites when necessary to determine the best products to select for those customers.
- Support Automation Sales Specialist and inside sales with product selection, interchange, bill of material management and supplier updates.
- Continuous training to stay current with primary vendor's new products and technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred or related field.
- Automation Sales experience of 5-7 years preferred.
- Valid Drivers’ License Required.
Skills/Abilities
- Technical experience using automation products - 2+ years.
- Strong computer skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
