About the role
Our client is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to help drive quality across a complex enterprise application environment. This role combines automation development, backend data validation, and end-to-end testing in support of business-critical systems.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain automated test scenarios using Cucumber and Gherkin.
- Develop and execute automated tests with a focus on Cypress and/or Playwright, expanding an existing automation framework.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing for a complex cash management application with heavy UI testing.
- Utilize advanced SQL skills for backend data validation, including complex joins, data validation, and querying multiple tables.
- Perform API testing using Postman.
- Support testing activities across AWS-hosted environments, including reviewing CloudWatch logs for troubleshooting and investigation.
- Investigate root causes, optimize automation scripts, and stabilize flaky tests.
- Partner with engineering and product teams to ensure release quality.
- Actively use AI tools (e.g., Continue.dev, Claude, Codex) for test case creation, automation development, and script refactoring.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in QA Automation, Software Testing, or a similar role.
- Strong hands-on experience with automation frameworks such as Cypress, Playwright, or Selenium, with a high preference for Cucumber experience.
- Advanced SQL skills for complex backend and data validation testing.
- Experience performing API testing using Postman is required.
- Proficiency with test management and defect tracking tools such as ALM or Jira.
- Experience developing automated tests using TypeScript or Java.
- Familiarity with AWS services (ECS, API Gateway, S3, etc.) for troubleshooting and investigation.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with financial or banking domain applications.
- Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and tools like Jenkins, GitLab pipelines, or Terraform.
- Experience working with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases.
- Exposure to resiliency or cloud validation testing.
- Familiarity with AI productivity tools in a QA workflow.
