Auto Parts Stock Clerk

About the role

Auto Parts Stock Clerk positions receive, store, and issue various automotive supplies and parts; perform manual and computerized inventory control; contact vendors to request quotes and resolve supply issues; package and label outgoing supplies/materials for proper delivery; and process computerized purchase requisitions.

• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Must meet ONE of the following experience options:
  • Six months of full-time experience receiving, storing, and/or issuing automotive parts from a stock room
  • One year of full-time experience in automotive parts sales performing full-service duties in an establishment such as a wholesale automotive parts warehouse, a retail automotive parts store, or an automotive dealership parts department
• Experience as a mechanic or in equipment repair only is NOT qualifying
• A valid California Class C Driver License is required at the time of hire
• May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 80 pounds
• May be required to work nights or unusual shifts for which 5% additional pay may be received

City of San Diego employees using Out-of-Class Assignment (OCA) experience to qualify must submit written documentation signed by their appointing authority or payroll specialist, detailing the work performed, dates, and total number of qualifying OCA hours. OCA experience without the required documentation will NOT be considered.

Pay

Employees in job classifications represented by Municipal Employees Association (MEA) are scheduled to receive the following general wage increases:

• 3.5% effective 7/1/27
• 2% effective 7/1/28
• 2% effective 1/1/29

In addition to the scheduled general wage increases, the following equity adjustment wage increases are also scheduled for Auto Parts Stock Clerk:

• 4% effective 1/1/28
• 4% effective 1/1/29

Benefits

Eligible benefited employees originally hired on or after July 10, 2021, will be automatically enrolled in the San Diego City Employees Retirement System (SDCERS).
