Primary Job Functions
- Answer phones to facilitate invoice billing and order collection with a high degree of accuracy and speed
- Ensure special orders and transfers are completed in a timely manner
- Handle money from customers and make change if necessary
- Write customer credits, core and defect returns
- Remove and record amount of cash in register at end of shift
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, and answering phone within three (3) rings
- Process work orders, invoices, and other paperwork requiring company procedural knowledge
- Be a key holder if necessary (opening/closing of store)
- Be an alarm code holder, know how to arm/disarm the alarm system
- Be on the alarm call list
- Knowledge of Purchase Order and Return to Vendor processes
- Create Sales Transfers and receive Transfer Orders
- Minimal management skills as required by absence of management staff
- Help with overview and training of Counter I and General Store Staff employees
- Ensure all cores and defects are returned in a timely manner
- Process special order and other paperwork requiring Level 2 administrative clearance
- Present a good image of the company through proper dress and attire
- Participate in and complete company-sponsored and supported training
- Attend training or use printed media to increase product knowledge
- Aid store staff with superior knowledge of products and industry in order to access special merchandise
- Consistently lead in sales, both in dollars and percentage
- Maintain a satisfactory attendance record and appearance
- Perform other duties and assignments as directed by management
Qualifications
- Ability to work well with others and assist customers cooperatively and courteously
- Exemplary company work records, including attendance
- Must be able to work in a high-paced, busy atmosphere
- Related experience in the auto parts business preferred
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
- Must have basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Ability to read and write in English
- Must successfully complete background and criminal history checks
- Must pass a physical, human performance evaluation, and a drug test
- Good understanding of and adherence to company policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and prompt attendance
- Attitude that supports the Company's goals and values
- Experience requirements: One (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience
- Education requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Certification requirements: Complete and pass ASE counterman certification to be considered for advancement
