Auto Mechanic - Full Time - Day

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair department vehicles, stretchers, lifts, and other equipment as required.
• Repair fleet vehicles and equipment in emergency situations and per work orders.
• Perform general preventative maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment according to maintenance schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Maintain appropriate levels of replacement parts for the fleet.
• Evaluate whether repairs should be outsourced and report recommendations to the Supervisor EMS Fleet.
• Respond to fleet road calls as required.
• Operate motor vehicles lawfully and safely, maintaining a driving record in accordance with HMH policy.
• Maintain professional affiliations and pursue professional growth to stay current with automotive trends.
• Maintain communications equipment (repeaters and vehicle radios).
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
• Adhere to HMH organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
• Lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lb., and stand a minimum of 8 hours per day.

Requirements

• Minimum of two (2) years of Auto Mechanic vocational school or equivalent experience/school combination.
• Three (3) to four (4) years of experience in an auto repair shop.
• Minimum of four (4) years of driving experience.
• Demonstrated ability to perform the following tasks:
  • Change oil, lube, lights, etc.
  • Flush and filter change on auto transmissions
  • Mount and balance tires
  • Complete major brake jobs
  • Complete gas engine tune‑ups
  • Read wiring diagrams
  • Check charging systems and batteries
  • Service brake system hydraulic & air
  • Communications installation / minor repair
  • Change fan belts and hoses
  • Wheel alignment
  • Rear differential replacement
  • Air conditioning repairs
  • Electrical system repairs
  • Diagnostics and transmissions
  • Front end replacement
  • Engine replacement
  • Transmission replacement
  • Engine rebuild
  • Transmission rebuild

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid driver’s license issued by a U.S. state.

Pay

Minimum rate of $29.38 hourly. This rate is a good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay at the time of posting and may vary based on market data, experience, and other non‑discriminatory factors.
