Responsibilities
- Appraise auto and heavy equipment damage to determine repair costs for claim settlement.
- Establish pre-loss actual cash value and salvage value for heavy equipment beyond repair.
- Establish cargo loss value if applicable.
- Examine damaged units for interior/exterior damage.
- Interpret client special instructions to accurately handle claims.
- Prepare reports/documents for appropriate personnel as required.
- Record case time/billings.
- Solicit business locally when called upon.
- Serve as one of the first points of contact in the call.
- Uphold the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
- Perform other duties as requested.
Requirements
- High school or vocational school graduate or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 3+ years of previous experience with auto and heavy equipment and appraising vehicle damage.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance claims.
- Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Appraiser license (or ability to obtain licensing as required by jurisdiction).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read and interpret technical reference material.
- In-depth working knowledge of various types of vehicle construction and repair techniques.
- Ability to learn automated appraisal systems.
- Solid negotiating and customer service skills.
- Strong mathematical and computational skills.
- Must complete continuing education requirements per Crawford Educational Services.
