Responsibilities

  • Appraise auto and heavy equipment damage to determine repair costs for claim settlement.
  • Establish pre-loss actual cash value and salvage value for heavy equipment beyond repair.
  • Establish cargo loss value if applicable.
  • Examine damaged units for interior/exterior damage.
  • Interpret client special instructions to accurately handle claims.
  • Prepare reports/documents for appropriate personnel as required.
  • Record case time/billings.
  • Solicit business locally when called upon.
  • Serve as one of the first points of contact in the call.
  • Uphold the Crawford Code of Business Conduct at all times.
  • Perform other duties as requested.

Requirements

  • High school or vocational school graduate or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of previous experience with auto and heavy equipment and appraising vehicle damage.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in insurance claims.
  • Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Appraiser license (or ability to obtain licensing as required by jurisdiction).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical reference material.
  • In-depth working knowledge of various types of vehicle construction and repair techniques.
  • Ability to learn automated appraisal systems.
  • Solid negotiating and customer service skills.
  • Strong mathematical and computational skills.
  • Must complete continuing education requirements per Crawford Educational Services.
