About the role

Elwyn seeks an Autism Behavior Support Specialist (ABSS) to provide intensive behavioral assessment and treatment services to children with autism in a residential setting. The ABSS will participate in behavioral assessments and apply treatment strategies derived from an applied behavior analysis (ABA) model, working closely with the clinical team to implement individually designed behavior plans.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive behavioral assessment and treatment services in accordance with the behavior management plan
  • Apply treatment strategies derived from an applied behavior analysis (ABA) model as directed by the clinical team
  • Work closely with the clinical team to implement therapeutic interventions and protocols
  • Collect behavioral data relative to treatment strategies being implemented for individuals
  • Assist clients with daily living skills in a structured, therapeutic environment
  • Design and implement recreational activities
  • Model appropriate social skills for clients
  • Provide all required documentation, including daily progress notes and data tracking
  • Develop and adhere to individualized behavior management plans for each child
  • Train and assist children in self-care to maximize independence (e.g., bathing, toileting, dressing)
  • Ensure a safe and clean living environment for individuals
  • Intervene in crisis situations following established agency protocols
  • Encourage constructive use of leisure time
  • Escort individuals to and from medical appointments
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings and required in-service training
  • Report problems or concerns to supervisor or director(s)
  • Remain on duty until relieved
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and crisis intervention using agency-trained protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., sociology, human services, nursing, or social work)
  • Experience working with individuals with challenging behaviors preferred
  • Experience implementing ABA strategies preferred
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Excellent customer interaction, collaboration, and written/verbal communication skills
  • Basic experience with Microsoft Office applications, specifically Outlook
  • Current certification/recertification in CPR, First Aid, and crisis intervention (agency-provided training)
  • Current, valid driver’s license in state of residence with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience in the U.S. and an acceptable driving record

Pay

$24 per hour

Schedule

  • 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday
  • 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM, Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday
  • 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM, Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday
  • PRN (as-needed) shifts available
