About the role

At the Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning, Autism Aides help create a supportive, structured, and engaging environment where children with autism can learn, grow, and build confidence. This role is about more than classroom support — it’s about building positive relationships, encouraging communication and independence, and helping children practice skills that support success at school, home, and in the community. Autism Aides work closely with interdisciplinary teams to provide compassionate, individualized support while celebrating each child’s unique strengths and progress. Responsibilities

• Assists clients with participation in the classroom, skills groups, and educational support as assigned
• Assists the treatment team in providing academic structure through the application of behavioral techniques and procedures
• Assists in de-escalating clients when necessary or intervening when the behavior of an individual poses a threat of harm to themselves and/or others
• Supports client health by assisting with hygiene responsibilities as required
• Follows agency documentation policies for all phases of treatment, including assessments, care plans, treatment transitions and discharge plans, and client care
• Participates in ongoing professional development activities to meet licensure, certification, and/or other agency requirements

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• CPR certification (post hire as needed)
• Safety Care certification (post hire)
• Driving positions require current driver’s license – must be 21 years old

Pay

Range starts at $16.50/hour (pay is calculated based on years of related experience). Salary range: $16.50 - $18.56.

Mon-Fri | 8:00am-5:00pm
