Authorizations Specialist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Authorization Specialist for a radiation oncology office. This role involves verifying insurance coverage, obtaining authorizations, and ensuring procedures are covered by patients' insurance plans.

Responsibilities

• Verify insurance coverage, eligibility, benefits, and obtain authorizations/pre-certs for scheduled appointments or procedures.
• Enter complete verification, eligibility, and benefit information into the patient accounting system, including date, time, and method used.
• Communicate with physicians to inform them of patients' insurance status and whether they may proceed with treatment plans.
• Work closely with the billing department to ensure accurate information is relayed.
• Work in-person at the office as part of a team.

Requirements

• 1 year of prior authorizations or insurance verification experience (required).
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams, physicians, insurance companies, and patients.
• Understanding of various insurance plans, plan types, and setting plan codes.
• Must work in-person at the office.
