Grow Therapy · United States · 6 days ago
RemoteRemoteOTHR$75k–$84k/yrFull-time

Grow Therapy is on a mission to serve as the trusted partner for therapists growing their practice, and patients accessing high-quality care. Powered by technology, we are a three-sided marketplace that empowers providers, augments insurance payors, and serves patients. This role focuses on our authorization function, which has outgrown its original home inside Eligibility and is now one of the most complex, highest-risk parts of our Pre-Bill operation, covering our WellHive partnership with the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Employee Assistance Program (EAP) partners (Cigna, Octave, Optum), and Kaiser populations.

About the role

As Authorization Supervisor, you will own the authorization-denial pipeline at the trend level, manage the Authorization Specialist and our outsourced authorization-entry team, and serve as the primary relationship owner for authorization-specific issues with key payer and partner contacts. This role is as much about building and maintaining automated processes as it is about managing a team, reporting directly to the Pre-Bill Operations Manager and collaborating closely with Eligibility, Billing, and Coding supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Own the authorization denial pipeline at the trend level, identifying root causes across payers and driving resolution rather than fixing claims one at a time
  • Build and maintain automated workflows that reduce manual authorization work over time
  • Manage and develop an authorization team, including staffing, quality audits, and productivity standards
  • Own key partner relationships for authorization-specific issues, including escalations and process improvements
  • Represent the authorization function in cross-functional conversations with payor partnerships on escalation and process improvement
  • Partner with Billing, Eligibility, and Coding to resolve cross-functional authorization issues and escalate systemic trends
  • Prepare the function for new frameworks and partnerships as Grow expands

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in authorization, utilization management, patient access, or medical billing, including at least 1 year in a people management role
  • SQL-fluent or able to ramp up quickly, comfortable directing and verifying data-driven, automated workflows
  • Prior people management experience, ideally in authorization, utilization management, or patient access
  • Analytically minded, able to spot denial trends across payers rather than treating each case in isolation
  • Comfortable owning external partner relationships and escalating issues professionally
  • Process-driven, able to build and enforce repeatable workflows for a high-volume, high-complexity function
  • Adaptable, able to ramp into a fast-moving, partially built environment without a long runway

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior VA Community Care Network or other government payer authorization experience
  • Employee Assistance Program experience (Cigna, Octave, or similar)
  • Experience building or scaling an operational function from an ad hoc or manual state
  • Hands-on SQL or workflow-automation experience, even self-taught

Benefits

  • Health Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage
  • Grow for Grow: No-cost access to therapy through the Grow platform (available to US employees)
  • Financial Wellness: Retirement savings programs and equity opportunities
  • Flexible Time Off, Paid Holidays & Winter Break: Flexible time off, company-paid holidays, and a full company-wide Winter Break
  • Parental Leave: Up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave and a new child stipend
  • Mental Health Mornings/Afternoons: Dedicated weekly flexible time for self-care
  • Wellness & Development Stipend: Annual stipend for personal wellbeing and professional growth
  • Commuter Benefits: Pre-tax commuter benefits for teammates working from hub locations
  • Home Office & Meals: Support for your home workspace plus meal benefits
  • Additional Perks: Wellbeing benefits including wellness memberships, virtual care, pet insurance discounts, and global travel assistance

Pay

The base compensation range for this fully remote position is $74,880–$84,240 USD annually.

Schedule

  • Fully remote role
  • May include travel 2–3 times per year (e.g., company and department offsites)
