About the Opportunity
The Authorization Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the registration, insurance financial setup, eligibility verification, and authorization processes for consumers. This position ensures that these administrative functions are performed accurately and timely, supporting the overall efficiency of service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Complete all administrative functions related to consumer registration, demographic tracking, and insurance financial profile setup
- Verify consumer eligibility, cross-reference coverage parameters, and process all authorization-related workflows
- Identify, isolate, and resolve insurance discrepancies to maintain timely and highly accurate system data entry
- Communicate relevant insurance information, clearance updates, and procedural feedback clearly with management and program staff
- Enter prior authorizations and consumer registrations into the designated billing system within strictly established corporate timeframes
- Perform routine quality control checks and internal audits on entered authorizations to eliminate downstream claim denials
- Cook up the receipt and distribution of physical and digital documents related to authorizations and registrations between active programs and central offices
Requirements
- 2 to 3 years of progressive clerical or administrative experience, which must include prior insurance verification or medical billing exposure
- A high school diploma or GED required; an Associate Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is preferred
- Strong analytical, root-cause problem-solving, and professional communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage a high-volume task queue, and collaborate with minimal direct supervision
- Pioneering capacity to multitask, prioritize urgent insurance deadlines, and perform effectively in a high-paced healthcare environment
- Foundational familiarity with behavioral health insurance terminology or public assistance coverage paths is highly beneficial
Pay Range and Compensation Package
Target base pay rate starting at $17.50 USD per hour. Final hourly assignment is structured dynamically based on the candidate's prior insurance clearance experience, technical system familiarity, and localized geographic market factors.
