Auditor II for the Mineral Audit Division 2026-01670
About the role
The role involves conducting independent audits of mineral industry companies to ensure compliance with applicable state and federal laws and regulations. Assist in audits, projects, or committees with varying complexity, priority, sensitivity, and problematic nature.
Responsibilities
- Conducts pre-audit preparation, coordination, and review.
- Reviews reported information, previous audits, other company reports, and documents, as well as mineral industry standards.
- Performs on-site audit visits to include a review of financial statements and reporting requirements.
- Verifies compliance with State and Federal regulatory reporting requirements.
- Reviews the adequacy of operating procedures and internal controls.
- May attend both in-state and out-of-state training.
- May present limited depositions and provide basic information in front of a board, legislative committee, and local, state, or federal court.
- May testify under oath to defend audit reports and findings.
Requirements
- Possession of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (typically in accounting, economics, statistics, or finance).
- Valid driver's license.
- Knowledge of GAGAS or other regulatory standards.
- Knowledge of researching information sources.
- Knowledge of Federal and State regulatory reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of internal and external audit reports.
- Knowledge of information technology security procedures.
Qualifications
- PREFERENCES: Preference may be given to those with a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (typically in accounting, economics, statistics, or finance).
- AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid driver's license.
- Experience: 0-2 years of progressive work experience (typically in Auditing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Auditor I OR Education & Experience Substitution: 3-5 years of progressive work experience (typically in Auditing) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Auditor I.

- Necessary Special Requirements: Physical Working Conditions - Travel is required.
