About the role

Supervise and support the development and rollout of Tracegains and other Quality Management Systems (QMS). Maintain accurate data, provide analytical reports, and offer advanced support to QMS users. Support the Boar’s Head Audit Team with Food Safety and Product Quality audits across various venues, including Food Service Operations, Retail Store Operations, Manufacturing Plants, and Food Distribution Operations. Summarize follow-up actions and initiate Corrective and Preventive Actions (CARs) to drive root-cause investigation and resolution. Ensure customers and suppliers adhere to finished product quality standards and meet Boar’s Head Brand expectations. Complete special projects as assigned by the Senior QA Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced super-user support to functional groups (R&D, Procurement, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing) on QMS-related issues.
  • Offer technical support to the Family Foods team, suppliers of Family Foods products, raw material, ingredient, and packaging suppliers on creating and maintaining information and documents in Tracegains.
  • Create customized views, generate analytical reports, maintain required documentation/data, and provide basic programming support for operations and support departments within Tracegains.
  • Assist QA with the maintenance of processing documents and files associated with SQF, HACCP, and other quality or food safety-related programs as requested.
  • Organize and audit co-manufacturers' QA-related documents to ensure compliance with Boar’s Head expectations (e.g., annual GFSI audit reports, CAPAs, Nutritional Documents, COAs, Allergen forms, Weight & Tare, product claims).
  • Perform Food Safety and Product Quality audits at various venues (e.g., Food Service Operations, Retail Store Operations, Manufacturing, and Food Distribution outlets).
  • Conduct ongoing risk assessments, develop corrective actions, and monitor implementation, efficacy, and maintenance of preventive measures.
  • Work with the Boar’s Head Local Purveyor and Sales Team to provide Food Safety training as needed (e.g., BH UFSP Program).
  • Communicate directly with Boar’s Head manufacturing plants and/or co-manufacturing facilities on all customer feedback and initiate CAPAs to drive root-cause investigation and resolution.
  • Enter Local Purveyor Concerns into the Tracegains Customer Feedback system and ensure follow-up calls are made as necessary.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related discipline; 7+ years of relevant work experience. A combination of education and experience may substitute.
  • Experience in auditing various USDA and FDA environments is beneficial; knowledge of HACCP, SSOP, GMP, and GFSI schemes is essential.
  • Diverse background in cheese production, meat (cooked and fermented) production, emulsion technology, and hot/cold pack production is beneficial.
  • Fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills at both technical and general levels.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the supply chain, including manufacturing, customer locations, and corporate environments.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
  • General math skills, with the ability to read and analyze process charts, graphs, and logs.
  • Thorough understanding of statistical analysis.
  • Sharpened analytical, logical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • HACCP training or ability to attend a training course.
  • Serve Safe Manager Certification or ability to attend a training course.
  • SQF or other GFSI Scheme certification is desired.
  • Auditor Certification (e.g., American Society for Quality – Certified HACCP Auditor, Certified Quality Auditor, Certified Supplier Quality Professional) is preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift overhead up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
  • Sufficient sensory ability to perform effective organoleptic evaluations (visual, olfactory, gustatory, tactile, and auditory). Corrected sensory ability is acceptable.

Work Environment

  • Ability to work in both warm and cold environments.
  • Ability to work in meat, cheese, or condiment processing environments (wet conditions, presence of blood and meat juices, loud noises, various olfactory conditions).
  • Travel is required (less than 50%) to assist in auditing venues.
