Auditor, Controls & Compliance
About the role
Your Mission Activision Blizzard King ("ABK") is one of the world's leading interactive entertainment companies, home to iconic franchises like Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, and Candy Crush, and part of Microsoft since 2023. Our team is the centralized global function responsible for the integrity of the control environment across the company, with SOX at its core today and a growing compliance remit. As an Auditor, you'll work across both business and IT processes to strengthen and mature the controls behind the games played by millions every day. You'll gain broad exposure across ABK, take meaningful ownership, and develop deep expertise in a dynamic, global gaming business. You'll also help shape how we work next.
Responsibilities
- Assist team leadership with risk assessment, scoping, and planning for the annual SOX cycle.
- Perform process walkthroughs with business and IT stakeholders to develop a deep understanding of processes, systems, risks, and controls.
- Maintain clear, high-quality narratives, flowcharts, and control matrices.
- Execute design and operating effectiveness testing across business and IT processes — financial controls, IT general controls, automated controls, and key reports — documented in workpapers that stand up to external auditor scrutiny.
- Identify control deficiencies, assess root causes, and partner with process owners on pragmatic, sustainable remediation, including retesting management action plans.
- Improve control testing and monitoring by applying data analytics, automation, and AI through Microsoft-enabled tools such as Power BI, Copilot, and Power Automate.
- Leverage hands-on fieldwork to provide practical insights that improve SOX execution, effectiveness, and efficiency, and contribute to knowledge sharing across the team and with stakeholders.
- Stay current on audit, SOX, and technology developments — including emerging risks across automation, systems, and AI — and proactively flag their implications for the program.
Requirements
- 1–3+ years of public accounting and/or internal audit experience. A public accounting foundation is strongly preferred.
- CPA, CIA, CISA, or equivalent — certified or actively pursuing.
Qualifications
- Working knowledge of internal controls and SOX Section 404, including walkthroughs, testing, documentation, and deficiency management.
- A quick learner with a strong work ethic — self-motivated, organized, and accountable, with the ability to deliver high-quality work on time and raise issues early.
- Genuinely curious about how processes and systems work, with a builder's instinct and an appetite for automation, data analytics, and AI.
- Approaches issues methodically, considering business context, and recommends practical, value-adding solutions.
- A clear and thoughtful communicator, in writing and in person, who works effectively with stakeholders at every level and adapts the message to the audience. Builds trust, asks good questions, and challenges respectfully when needed.
- A collaborative team player — equally comfortable working independently and owning assigned areas — invested in the team and the bigger picture while continuing to grow individually.
Skills
- Experience in gaming, entertainment, software, or technology, particularly exposure to revenue recognition, software development, or system-driven processes.
- Familiarity with Oracle or similar ERPs, AuditBoard, Power BI, Copilot, Power Automate, Azure DevOps, or Archer.
- Knowledge of ABK and Xbox games and franchises.
