Audit Methodology Engineer

About the Role
As an Audit Methodology Engineer, you will shape Fieldguide’s methodology solutions by bridging audit methodology and our agentic platform. Your role ensures the platform delivers accurate, contextual, and explainable methodology that auditors can trust while meeting audit standards. You will operationalize methodology documentation and guidance, ensuring agents reflect professional standards, firm guidance, and industry nuances. You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, and AI teams to translate audit standards and professional judgment into reliable AI-powered workflows.
Responsibilities
- Methodology Management
- Define the structure and logic behind Fieldguide's out-of-the-box methodology content with methodology partners.
- Design how audit standards translate into methodology content and audit procedures within the platform.
- Structure guidance from US GAAS, PCAOB standards, and other frameworks into usable, well-organized content.
- Identify key industry procedures, testing approaches, and internal control testing to incorporate into methodology.
- Manage and oversee the methodology content and engagement template ingestion and review process for completeness and accuracy.
- Review and refine methodology and engagement templates based on auditor feedback from real-world usage.
- AI Collaboration
- Partner with AI architects and engineers to translate professional standards and practitioner judgment into prompts, workflows, and guardrails for methodology and testing agents.
- Work with product teams to turn audit standards and industry guidance into functional specifications and user workflows.
- Implementation & Maintenance
- Support financial audit implementation teams, including bespoke methodology builds, customization, and annual updates.
- Ensure methodologies and customizations are implemented with appropriate quality control rigor, including version control, review/approval processes, and documentation of changes.
- Monitor regulatory and industry developments and advise on their product implications.
- Maintain and evolve the audit knowledge base as standards and guidance change.
Requirements
- CPA required.
- 5+ years of public accounting experience.
- Strong expertise in AICPA auditing standards (GAAS), PCAOB, and audit methodology.
- Experience with audit technology, automation, or AI-enabled tools, audit methodologies, templates, or workpapers.
- Working knowledge of quality control/quality management standards (e.g., SQMS 1, PCAOB QC standards) as they relate to methodology development and audit documentation.
- Ability to translate professional standards into structured workflows and logic.
- Strong analytical thinking and ability to work cross-functionally with product and engineering teams.
- Interest in the intersection of audit, data, and AI.

Pay
Compensation Range: $170K - $205K
