About the role
The Audit Manager II is a senior-level leader within the U.S. Financial Crimes Regulatory Issue Validation Audit function, providing specialized in-depth subject matter expertise. This role is responsible for validating regulatory issues through the audit methodology, working directly with impacted businesses, and contributing to the planning and oversight of the validation function.
The U.S. Financial Crimes Regulatory Issue Validation Audit function manages the validation process for regulatory issues, as well as some audit-identified or self-identified issues related to existing regulatory concerns. The Audit Manager II will lead or serve as Auditor-In-Charge on complex regulatory audit engagements, providing day-to-day leadership, coaching, and guidance to engagement team members to ensure high-quality, effective, and timely execution of audit engagements, deadlines, budgets, and project plans.
The main function of this role is to oversee testing of design and operational effectiveness focused on regulatory issue validation, as well as internal issue validation tied to regulatory issues. The role involves managing the suite of work required to meet regulatory deadlines and internal timelines through tracking and monitoring all items within the team's scope of work.
Responsibilities
- Works autonomously and is accountable for acting as a lead within a specialized audit practice area, providing work direction to others.
- Provides seasoned specialized knowledge, advice, and/or guidance to various stakeholders and team members.
- Leads and/or provides supervisory oversight to complex audits, ensuring completion.
- Applies knowledge of external competition, industry, and/or market trends in relation to the audit function.
- Undertakes and completes a variety of complex audit projects and initiatives requiring specialist knowledge and/or integration of cross-functional processes.
- May oversee and/or independently perform concurrent multiple audits and related tasks from end to end.
- Handles confidential information with discretion.
- Supports the development and implementation of audit programs by contributing insights and assisting with planning activities.
- Participates in audit engagements across multiple areas, ensuring audits are conducted in line with established standards and timelines.
- Executes the development of Audit Planning Memorandum (APM), Process Risk and Control Matrix (pRCM), Findings Grid, and Audit Report.
- Completes L1 reviews/sign-off on all audit activities (e.g., walkthroughs, test scripts, test results, grid, evidence uploads).
- Oversees/leads audits and/or executes the follow-up of findings arising from internal audits and regulatory reviews in accordance with policy.
- Oversees/leads ongoing audit communications and/or the reporting process with stakeholders, senior management, and external auditors.
- Contributes to audit initiatives by providing input and assisting in the design and testing of solutions, as well as supporting implementation efforts.
- Leads/manages the integrated implementation of policies, processes, procedures, and changes across multiple functional areas.
- Acts as the audit lead or audit advisor to management and respective teams for the area of specialization.
- Reports on emerging trends, identifying issues and opportunities, and recommending action to senior management.
- Facilitates key discussions and provides thought leadership to executive audiences.
- Adheres to internal policies/procedures, enterprise frameworks, and methodologies, and applicable regulatory guidelines.
- Contributes to the review of internal processes and activities, assisting in identifying control weaknesses/failures and potential opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.
- Actively manages relationships with business lines, corporate, and/or control functions, ensuring alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements.
- Keeps abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements, assessing potential impacts to the Bank.
- Assesses/identifies key issues and escalates to appropriate levels and relevant stakeholders where required.
- Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes and sound infrastructure in alignment with risk appetite.
- Participates in cross-functional/enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert, helping to identify risk and providing guidance for complex situations.
- Provides thought leadership and/or industry knowledge for their area of expertise.

Requirements
- Undergraduate degree required.
- 7+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience as a former OCC, CFPB, FDIC, FRB, or NCUA compliance examiner.
- Banking industry audit experience with a focus on Financial Crimes Compliance and issue validation strongly preferred.
- Relevant professional certifications or other industry certifications strongly preferred (e.g., CIA, CRCM, CAMS).
- Advanced knowledge of audit standards, procedures, laws, rules, and regulations.
- Ability to lead, plan, implement, and evaluate program/project activities to ensure completion of audits.
- Skilled in mentoring, coaching, and performance management.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the audit function and provide advice to senior leadership, particularly around process improvement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with risk management and audit tools.

Pay
$92,220 - $149,310 USD
