About the role
As an Audit Intern at Clark Schaefer Hackett, you will gain valuable experience working alongside seasoned professionals on public‑sector audit and accounting engagements. The internship runs from January to June 2027 (peak season) and provides hands‑on exposure to governmental clients, allowing you to apply academic knowledge to real‑world projects while developing essential audit skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist in executing audit engagements for clients across different industries.
- Gather, analyze, and document financial data.
- Participate in fieldwork, including testing internal controls and conducting substantive testing.
- Contribute to the preparation of working papers and audit reports.
- Collaborate with team members to identify issues and recommend improvements.
- Attend training sessions to enhance knowledge of auditing standards and practices.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
- Utilize technology for data analytics and process automation.
- Record time and project details in the appropriate system on a daily basis.
Qualifications
- Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Basic understanding of accounting principles with completed coursework in Financial and Managerial Accounting.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Availability to work full‑time (40–55 hours per week), including potential overtime during tax season.
