About the role

The Department of Audiology at San José State University is pleased to announce a search for a full-time temporary faculty beginning in August 2026. This is a renewable temporary faculty position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership for clinic operations, patient access, workflow development, documentation systems, quality assurance, compliance, equipment and technology management, and continuous improvement.
  • Develops and implements standardized operating procedures, scheduling processes, and operational systems that support efficient, sustainable clinic operations.
  • Provides regular in-person presence to ensure effective leadership of clinic operations.
  • Led clinic growth initiatives through referral network development, community partnerships, service expansion, operational planning, and increased clinic utilization.
  • Supports development of financial infrastructure, sustainable business practices, and future revenue-generating clinical services consistent with university policies.
  • Provides direct clinical services, clinical instruction, student supervision, and teaching consistent with departmental needs.
  • Supports the development and assessment of student clinical competencies and readiness for external placements and professional practice.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with healthcare providers, school districts, community organizations, industry partners, referral sources, and university stakeholders to strengthen patient access and community engagement.
  • Collaborates with departmental leadership, faculty, staff, and community partners to support accreditation readiness, strategic planning, clinic development, and long-term program goals.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree from an accredited institution and eligibility for California audiology licensure at the time of appointment.
  • Minimum of five years of professional audiology experience.
  • Leadership experience in clinical operations, healthcare services, program administration, or organizational development.
  • Experience improving operational systems, clinical services, or strategic initiatives that resulted in measurable organizational, service, or educational outcomes.
  • Experience building professional partnerships, referral networks, community collaborations, or stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of clinical operations, HIPAA compliance, quality assurance, clinical documentation systems, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience establishing, expanding, or managing clinical services that increased patient access, clinic utilization, or student clinical learning opportunities.

Qualifications

Pay

Anticipated hiring academic year annual salary range: $6825 - $9431.

Schedule

The initial appointment will include duties as the director and teaching as assigned and depending on department and student needs. Assignment as director is determined by the appropriate administrator and may be discontinued at any time.
