Audiologist (Per Diem)

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Per Diem Audiologist to join the team at NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan. Metropolitan Hospital is a full-service community hospital providing state-of-the-art care and leading-edge technology in a modern environment. Responsibilities

• Administer a wide variety of audiological tests to determine the patient’s hearing level and most likely site of lesion to the auditory system.
• Assess the degree of social disability due to hearing loss and predict potential benefits of hearing aid use and/or special training, including newborn hearing screens.
• Administer specialized exams such as ABR and Video-Nystagmography (VNG)/rotary chair examinations, including detailed questionnaires and a battery of tests to evaluate the auditory and vestibular systems.
• Read, interpret, prepare, and send tracings to the referring physician.
• Counsel patients and their families regarding test results and recommendations.
• Confer with medical staff regarding audiological and vestibular problems and make recommendations for appropriate patient referral and management.
• Prepare reports on diagnostic findings and ensure they are distributed appropriately and confidentially as authorized by the patient or the patient’s family.
• Provide didactic and practical in-service training to otolaryngology residents, medical students, and other hospital staff.
