This stationary regional position supports multiple facilities in the Portland, OR area, offering work-life balance with minimal rotations on nights, weekends, and holidays. You will be an active participant in case monitoring, quality assurance programs, and serve as a key partner to surgeons, administrators, and hospital staff.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in the set-up and monitoring of each case, ensuring technical proficiency.
  • Set up and maintain the monitoring station and equipment.
  • Monitor the spinal cord, nerve roots, peripheral nerves, cranial nerves, and cerebral blood flow during surgery.
  • Evaluate electronic and neurophysiologic waveforms.
  • Apply electrodes to a patient’s anatomy efficiently and precisely.
  • Type technical reports and archive all patient records on a web portal.
  • Write reports/articles as directed by supervisors.
  • Study IONM-related material to prepare for the Certificate in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM).

Requirements

  • Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) degree required, or currently enrolled in an accredited Au.D. program and on track to complete the degree by December 31, 2027.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, neuroanatomy, pathologic processes, and aseptic techniques.
  • Proficiency with IONM equipment and ability to analyze data across multiple IONM modalities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with surgeons, anesthesia teams, and OR staff.
  • Ability to independently study IONM-related material for CNIM exam preparation.
  • Ability to maintain progress within the IONM Analyst Training Program.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Full-time position with a variable weekly schedule based on surgical caseload.
  • Work performed in the operating room environment; requires prolonged focus, standing, and the ability to lift and transport equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity required for applying electrodes and operating equipment.
  • Rotating on-call coverage including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Local staff serving local facilities throughout the Portland, OR area.
