AUDIOLOGIST I, DEPARTMENTS OF MENTAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES

About the role

The position exists in the Medical Department and is responsible for coordinating audiological services for individuals at Porterville Developmental Center (PDC).

Responsibilities

• Administer specialized measuring devices and tests for identification of hearing impairment to the developmentally disabled.
• Administer diagnostic tests to identify individuals with hearing impairments and to determine the nature and extent of hearing disorders.

Requirements

• Pass the Audiologist I examination.

Qualifications

• Must be a resident of the State of California at the time of appointment.
• Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
• Must complete a medical evaluation.

Skills

• Knowledge of audiologic principles and practices.
• Ability to administer diagnostic tests for hearing impairment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities.
