Job Summary
Supports the audiology clinic operations and improves the patient experience by performing audiologic procedures under supervision and orders, repairs, and assists patients with hearing devices.
Education & Experience
- Certifications, Licenses Or Registration Required: One of the below accepted credentials: Audiology Assistants Certification (C-AA) by American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), etc.
- Preferred Qualifications: Work experience in a healthcare environment and with hearing devices, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, Ability to stay organized and manage multiple tasks effectively in a fast-paced setting, etc.
Responsibilities
- Manage hearing aid operations: ordering, repairs, inventory, and patient follow-up.
- Perform basic audiologic procedures: calibration checks, otoscopic inspections, and hearing tests.
- Assist audiologists with pediatric and adult audiometry and hearing aid fittings.
- Conduct hearing aid orientations and demonstrate assistive listening devices (ALDs).
- Maintain audiology supply inventory and complete necessary documentation.
- Complete administrative tasks, including patient calls and correspondence.
Physical And Environmental Demands
- Requires occasional exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, frequent exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or tox or caustic chemicals, which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, frequent work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying up to 75 pounds, occasional climbing, occasional crawling, occasional crouching/stooping, frequent kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, constant reaching, occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional twisting, and constant walking.
