About the role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Audio Visual (AV) Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining audiovisual equipment for various events, conferences, meetings, and other multimedia needs. You will ensure the seamless execution of AV systems and troubleshoot technical issues to ensure high-quality performance. As an AV Specialist, you will collaborate with different teams, including IT, event coordinators, and support staff, to manage the setup and operation of audio-visual systems.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and operate audiovisual equipment, including projectors, sound systems, microphones, cameras, and video conferencing tools for events, conferences, and meetings.
- Ensure all AV equipment functions optimally, testing devices before and after use.
- Monitor and adjust audio levels, video displays, and lighting during events to maintain high-quality presentations.
- Perform regular maintenance and inspection of AV equipment to ensure all devices are in working order.
- Quickly diagnose and resolve technical issues during live events or pre-event rehearsals.
- Replace or repair faulty equipment as necessary.
- Collaborate with event planners, IT teams, and other stakeholders to understand AV needs and ensure smooth execution of events.
- Provide on-site technical support and training to staff, clients, and event participants when necessary.
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all AV equipment and related materials.
- Order and track supplies as needed, ensuring proper storage and handling of equipment.
- Document equipment setups, configurations, and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
- Assist in creating technical documentation for AV processes and setups.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in audio-visual equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
- Strong experience with audiovisual systems, including soundboards, projectors, video cameras, microphones, and lighting systems.
- Familiarity with AV equipment and software (e.g., audio mixing, video editing, conferencing platforms, AV control systems).
- Familiarity with common AV software such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and audio/video recording tools.
- Ability to perform basic electrical and mechanical repairs of AV equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to lift and carry AV equipment up to 50 lbs.
- Occasional evening and weekend hours, especially for events.
- Some travel may be required for off-site events or projects.
Qualifications
- A degree or certification in Audio/Visual Technology, Electronics, Computer Science, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant industry certifications such as AVIXA CTS (Certified Technology Specialist) are a plus.
